Hey there, I’m Home Girl K, the co-mastermind behind Home Girl Homestead – the blog where a dash of country meets a splash of krunk. Born in the breathtaking landscapes of Colorado Springs but truly raised in the cozy town of Simla, my journey is a rollercoaster of rural dreams in an urban setting.

Married to a police officer and a proud parent of four kids, life at our place is already a delightful chaos. Toss in three furry companions – Chewy the St. Bermastiff, Prentiss the husky mix, and Thunder the Malinois – and suddenly our home feels like a secret farm.

I harbor a dream of living on a farm, complete with mini cows, mini donkeys, fluffy chickens, and even a gypsy vanner horse. And yes, my anthem is Kenny Chesney’s “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy.” Home Girl Homestead is all about my passion for gardening, canning, and making the most of our budget. Small sewing projects, crafting cheer bows, gardening, and daydreaming about Disney World are my go-to hobbies.

I bring the farm life to the city with a silly and crazy twist. Our town recently allowed chickens, sparking secret plans despite my husband’s unsuspecting protests.

Now, let me introduce you to Chewy – a 6-foot-tall St. Bermastiff who loves doling out massive hugs. His drooling escapades, especially when the food is involved, have turned our ceilings into unique art pieces. His “Beethoven” head shake? Trust me, it’s a spectacle that hits everything in its path, including the unsuspecting eyes of my family.

But the adventures don’t stop there. My favorite day of the month is “Tractor Magazine Day,” when a local magazine showcases used tractors for sale. My dream? Owning a John Deere Combine, making it my daily driver, and trading in the Tahoe for this wild choice of transportation.

At work, I’m the one who brings the farm to the radio station. My desk boasts a Lego-built combine and a plastic farm of animals, much to the bemusement of my co-workers. They say you should dress for the job you want, not the job you have.  There is a good possibility I will start showing up in overalls, boots and a straw hat.

In my whimsical world, Home Girl Homestead isn’t just a blog; it’s a celebration of embracing the unexpected, living with a silly grin, and turning ordinary moments into adventures. Welcome to my farm life, where every day is a little bit country, a little bit krunk, and a whole lot of fun!
